Dimitrij Ovtcharov

Where spit-seconds and millimetres are vital, the right bat is of utmost importance. It’s only the player with the optimum equipment that can make the decisive one or two points, and the one who tries absolutely everything to get a point no matter how hopeless the situation seems to be.

Dima is such a player. Due to his terrific performance, he played his part in ensuring the DONIC sponsored German team won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing. After the speed glue ban had been enforced, he demonstrated that at the age of 20, he already belongs amongst the world’s top players. Reaching the last sixteen at the WTTC in Yokohama in May 2008 was an impressive demonstration of what he is able to achieve. With a high degree of precision he has worked together with the DONIC experts to balance his blade and rubber sheets; again and again he asked the development department to make slight changes. “For me the equipment is extremely important”, he says. “Everything has to be perfect, I need the optimum bat.” He knows from many years of experience that he gets this from DONIC. He signed a long-term contract with his equipment supplier at the beginning of this year. “This contract nearly extends to the end of his career”, said Frank Schreiner.

Someone like Ovtcharov, who always keenly but accurately works on the development of the blades and rubber sheets, supports the company not only as a promotion partner, but also with his feedback and with his attitude.

Someone like Dima who continues to fight even though he is way behind and someone who is able to win matches that seemed already lost encourages everybody, his team mates, the fans and also the staff in the DONIC research department, who sometimes face problems that seem to be insolvable. Dima Ovtcharov imparts this philosophy to everyone:

Never give up!
